Cingire, NHTI win USCAA title

UNIONTOWN, Pa. - Former Fairfield Trojan basketball player Dante Cingire is a national champion. Cingire and the New Hampshire Technical Institute basketball team won the Division II title at the United States Collegieate Athletic Association tournament this week.
NHTI went 3-0 at the tournament after coming in as the No. 4 seed. The Lynx knocked off No. 5 seed Penn State Mont Alto, 76-70, in the quarterfinals, top-seeded Johnson and Wales University Charlotte, 98-76, in the semifinals and Penn State Greater Allegheny 74-70 in the championship game.
Cingire scored 14 points in the win over Penn State Mont Alto, knocking in four 3-pointers in the process. He scored eight points in the blowout win over Johnson and Wales-Charlotte, and scored two points in the USCAA championship game.
The Lynx finished 27-3 this season. Cingire was a starter throughout the year, including the three USCAA tournament games.
