COLUMBUS JUNCTION — The recent wet weather that has blanketed Southeastern Iowa has forced Columbus Junction Speedway officials to cancel racing the last three Fridays.
The special event Friday, May 28, was to be racing by the high-powered late models of the “Haulin with Hoker” Super Late Model Racing Association. Local hot shoes in the Late Model division like Chad Holliday, Nick Marolf, the Eckrich Brothers, Jonathan Brauns were scheduled to race.
It will be attempted to be made-up yet this summer. Track officials along with officials of the SLMRA touring series are currently looking for a suitable date to run the races.
Regular weekly racing is set to return to the CJ Speedway Friday. Racing action in all five weekly divisions will be on tap with hot laps taking to the four-10ths of a mile dirt track on the Louisa County Fairgrounds at 7:15 p.m.
