Clark, Comets silence Van Buren County
KEOSAUQUA - Cardinal senior Ryan Clark was on his game in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division game at Van Buren County. Clark gave up just two unearned runs on three hits and three walks, and struck out six Warriors in a complete-game victory.
Cardinal scored three runs in the first inning and two in the third. Van Buren scored two in the sixth.
Dawson Lewis went 2-for-2 with two RBIs to lead the Comets. Blaine Bryant and Logan Chickering each finished with an RBI.
Early start lifts Tigers past Hounds
NEW LONDON - The New London baseball team didn't back down against a 10-win Class 3A team Tuesday. The Tigers scored the first seven runs of the nonconferencegame to run past Fort Madison 7-4, for New London's sixth win in a row.
The Tigers scored five runs in the first inning, one in the second and one in the third to take a 7-0 lead midway throughout the game. Fort Madison scored four runs over the last two frames.
Shae Summerfield went 1-for-3 with a double and three RBIs. Seth Bailey went 2-for-3. Holvin Catala and Ryan Richey each knocked in a run. Catala picked up the win on the mound, throwing three shutout innings.
Mediapolis clips Huskies
RIVERSIDE - The visiting Bulldogs (7-4) scored two runs in the seventh inning for a 3-1 North Division win over Highland (7-6).
Eagles grounded by Bears
KEOTA - BGM (6-4) took a 16-2 win at South Iowa Cedar League foe Keota (6-7).
