For the Washington, Fairfield, Mid-Prairie and Columbus girls soccer teams, it’s almost time for postseason play.
With the release of the Class 1A Regional Soccer Pairings by the Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union on Monday the quartet of teams now know what their journey entails.
For Fairfield, Mid-Prairie and Columbus it’s the Class 1A Region 3 bracket, while Washington sits in the Region 4 bracket.
In the opening round, it’s Fairfield who will kick off the action.
The Trojans will match up with Centerville on the road for a play-in and a spot in the quarterfinals. That game will take place on Monday, May 15.
Should Fairfield win, they will have to take on top seeded Van Meter in the quarterfinal round.
Mid-Prairie is set for a first round battle with Central Lee at home. With a win, the Golden Hawks will play the winner of Van Meter and Centerville/Fairfield.
In the bottom half of the bracket, Columbus will take on Pella Christian on the road in the opening round.
The winner of that bout will play the winner of second seed Panorama and Chariton.
In the Region 4 bracket, Washington gets a familiar foe in Mediapolis in round one.
A win will put the Demons against either top seeded Davenport Assumption or Northeast/Wapello, whoever should win the play-in.
The bottom of the bracket features games between second seeded Beckman Catholic and Wahlert Catholic, while Marquette Catholic and Bellevue round out the lower half.
All game besides the play-in will take place on Wednesday, May 17.
The semifinal’s will take place at the one and two seeds home pitch on Tuesday, May 23.
