The Van Buren and Cardinal girls? basketball teams have both landed in Class 2A Region 4 to open postseason play. Van Buren previously beat first-round opponent Davis County this season, while Cardinal will need to get by Central Lee, a squad that has won big against the Comets twice.
Pekin, the one area Class 2A team missing from Region 4, has drawn Region 5 this postseason. The Panthers (14-7) will face Eddyville-Blakesburg (11-9) at 7:30 p.m. Saturday in Eddyville. Assuming Pekin makes it past the Rockets, they?ll face either Albia (5-16) or Pella Christian (16-3) at Pella in round two.
