Class 2A substate final results
SEISC South’s West Burlington get into state tournament

The Class 2A state tournament field is set after Saturday’s substate final bouts.
Eight teams will compete for a state title, beginning next week. Here we will recap all eight substate final matchups in the class.
In 2A substate one, Unity Christian is the champion. The Knights (20-4) upset No. 3 West Lyon in the final. Unity Christian led by just two after three quarters, but was able to hang on against the stout Wildcats squad 55-50.
Substate bracket two’s winner is No. 1 Western Christian (20-3). The Wolfpack trailed at the half and led by just three after three, but closed well to get to state with a 62-55 win.
Hudson, who’s ranked No. 2, was the substate three victor. The Pirates had no problems in the final, crushing North Fayette Valley 70-33.
In substate four, No. 6 West Burlington (22-0) is in. The Falcons won a back-and-forth battle with No. 10 Cascade to earn their first trip ever to Des Moines.
The biggest upset in 2A came in substate five as unranked Regina Catholic (17-6) upset No. 5 Pella Christian 64-59. The Regals are coach by former Mt. Pleasant head coach Paul Rundquist.
Substate six’s winner is Grundy Center. The Spartans (20-3) topped No. 9 Kuemper Catholic 60-48.
Substate seven and eight both featured ranked winners. No. 8 Treynor (21-3) defeated Grand View Christian 71-63 and No. 4 Underwood (24-0) dominated South Hamilton 81-50.
The state tournament matchups are as follows:
No. 1 Western Christian vs. No. 8 Regina Catholic
No. 4 West Burlington vs. No. 5 Treynor
No. 2 Hudson vs. No. 7 Grundy Center
No. 3 Underwood vs. No. 6 Unity Christian
