Class 3A baseball postseason pairings released

Union area baseball teams in Class 3A now know what teams are on the road to the state tournament after the Iowa High School Athletic Association released the pairings Thursday.

Postseason games start Friday, July 17.

Southeast Conference co-champion and possible outright winner Mt. Pleasant opens at home against league foe Ft. Madison. That winner plays the winner of Keokuk and No. 3 Davenport Assumption at Modern woodman Park in Davenport for the district title.

Fairfield and Washington could face each other but both will have to win in a district semifinal.

Washington faces Solon (10-4) at Solon while Fairfield travels to Clear Creek-Amana. The winners meet at Tiffin.

The district winners meet for the right to go to the state tournament July 24-Aug. 1 at Principal Park in Des Moines.
