The Fairfield volleyball team opens Class 3A regional volleyball with a match against Oskaloosa Monday.
The two teams have met just once before during a Saturday tournament in Oskaloosa, and the Indians (20-20) won the match in two sets: 22-20 and 21-14.
Even so, Diers is more comfortable going into the game with a loss to the Indians than never having played them at all.
?It doesn?t bother me that we?ve played them,? said Diers. ?It gives myself even a comfort level knowing we?ve seem them instead of just going in cold.?
Fairfield will try to slow down the Indians? complicated 5-1 offense, which features five attackers and one setter.
?Their setter is a huge part of their offense,? Diers said. ?She likes to tip the ball over the net, so we?re really going to have to be aware of that.?
Fairfield?s first-round match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. Monday in the FHS gymnasium.
