Coble’s double-double paces WACO win

WACO's Nik Coble tallied a double-double as area boys basketball resumed Friday after the Christmas break.
Iowa Mennonite School 58, Danville 52
IMS is 7-2 with the Southeast Iowa Super Conference non-divisional win at home.
IMS led 15-14 after one quarter, trailed 28-24 at half and 47-38 after the third quarter but went on a 20-5 run in the final period.
Kobe Borntrager went 10 of 11 from the field to score 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds. IMS teammate Eli Ours added 13 points. Caleb Gingerich handed out 12 assists, scored eight points, snared three steals, had two blocks and grabbed five rebounds. Trevor Leyden hit three 3-pointers and finished with 10 points.
IMSD plays at Lone Tree Tuesday.
Highland 89, Lone Tree 67
The Huskies improved to 7-3 with the road win in the SEISC North Division.
The Huskies led 30-14 after the first quarter.
Highland plays at Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday.
Louisa-Muscatine 53, Columbus 45
This SEISC North Division game at Letts was close throughout with a 6-5 Columbus lead after a quarter, 20-18 for the Falcons at halftime and 32-26 for the Falcons starting the final quarter.
Eric Valdez poured in 21 points for the Wildcats and Mason Hedges added eight.
The Wildcats are 1-9 and play at Mediapolis Tuesday.
WACO 54, Van Buren 39
The home team led 27-11 by halftime on the way to the nonconference victory.
Coble nailed 12 points and hammered the boards for 10 rebounds. Matt Leichty came off the bench to lead WACO in scoring with 13 points. Drew Kissell produced nine points, six assists, five rebounds and a block.
WACO is 8-3 and hosts Sigourney tonight.
West Branch 63, Mid-Prairie 60
The home team outscored Mid-Prairie 36-26 in the second half for the River Valley Conference win. The Golden Hawks led 21-13 and 34-27 after the first two periods of play.
Dominic Pickard led the visitors with 16 points while Tom Butters corralled 13 rebounds and scored eight points. Chaz Peterson put in 10 points off the bench.
Mid-Prairie is 5-6 and hosts Durant Tuesday.
Keota 62, Colfax-Mingo 60
The visiting Eagles eked out the South Iowa Cedar League win with a 19-15 fourth-quarter edge.
JD Stout went 11 of 22 from the field on his way to 28 points. Keota teammate Carson Sprouse hit 10 points and six assists off the bench. Luke Hammen had six rebounds.
Keota is 7-5 and hosts HLV Tuesday.
