The Southeast Iowa Super Conference released its 2024-25 All-Conference girls basketball team last week, and Columbus senior Lily Coil earned the ultimate honor.
Coil was named SEISC North Division Player of the Year for her work on the court in 2025. She was a senior leader on the conference championship winning Wildcat squad, which went 14-2 in league play to win the title by one game over second-place Lone Tree.
Coil led the Wildcats in scoring, posting 15.4 points per game this season, as well as a team-leading 8.6 points per game. Coil finished the year with 1.9 assists per game, and was a star on defense with 3.8 steals per game and 0.7 blocks per game.
Coil wasn’t the only Wildcat on the North Division first team. Teammate Ariana Vergara was honored as well.
Other area first-teamers for the North included WACO’s Ella Huisenga and Brenna Graber, Highland’s Kamryn Fink, Hillcrest Academys Malia Yoder and Winfield-Mount Union’s Kynlee Buffington.
Fink and Buffington were the only two freshmen and two of the only three upperclassmen on the entire first and second team lists.
Local North Division second-teamers include Isabel Rendon and Frannie Sosa from Columbus, Claire Witthrow from Hillcerst Academy, both Abby Guise and Renae Eubanks from Pekin, Madison Kellogg from Winfield-Mount Union, and Hailey Brun of Highland.
The Union area’s lone South Division first teamer was Sophia Jirak of Van Buren County. VBC’s Callie Kracht made the second-team, as did New London’s Mylee Miller.
Each team in each conference was awarded two honorable mentions.
