Columbus boys? basketball team loses, girls win over Louisa-Muscatine
The Columbus boys? basketball team lost at Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday, Dec. 13, with the final score of 52-66. L-M took the lead after the first quarter going up 17-11.
While Columbus scored 15 in the second quarter, it wasn?t enough to take the lead as L-M added 12 taking the score to 26-29 at the half.

The Columbus boys? basketball team lost at Louisa-Muscatine Tuesday, Dec. 13, with the final score of 52-66. L-M took the lead after the first quarter going up 17-11.
While Columbus scored 15 in the second quarter, it wasn?t enough to take the lead as L-M added 12 taking the score to 26-29 at the half.
L-M would come out strong after the break scoring 19 to Columbus? 13 and would maintain their scoring drive in the fourth putting up another 18 and holding the Wildcats back and allowing them to score only 13.
Scoring in the game came from Carter Colby and Abel Mena, both with 18 points, Tommy Pretz contributed nine, Ruben Paz had five and Erik Rees scored two.
It was a different outcome for the girls as they won their game 79-50.
L-M would be in the lead after the first quarter going up 14-11, but Columbus would turn things around in the second quarter, outscoring their opponents 27-13 to take a 38-27 lead.
After the half, Columbus would add another 24 and would hold L-M back to only 14 and would secure the victory by scoring 17 points in the fourth to L-M?s nine.
Shania Boyd had a double-double in the game scoring 29 points and having 12 steals. She also tallied seven rebounds and seven assists.
Bailey Stroud scored 20 points in the game and had four rebounds, eight assists and four steals.
Maki Mendenhall scored 16 points and had nine rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Angie Byas had seven points in the game along with seven rebounds and one steal. Courtney Zaehringer added three points, had two rebounds and two steals.
Anna Hamilton scored two points, had five rebounds, one assist and one steal. Violet Anaya also scored two points in the game.
