Columbus earns All-Union coach and captain honors
Wildcats coach Kasey Keltner, Lily Coil lead list

With the Iowa girls basketball season clearly in the rear view, it means another All-Union small school girls basketball list has been compiled.
While seniors have dominated the list in the past, this year’s list features some stellar underclassmen as well. Three seniors grace this year’s list, along with two freshman and a sophomore.
Columbus leads this year’s All-Union squad with the coach and captain slots. Lily Coil earns captain honors, while the Wildcats Kasey Keltner is the coach.
Highland, Mid-Prairie, WACO, Winfield-Mt. Union and Hillcrest Academy are all featured as well.

Coach: Kasey Keltner, Columbus
Columbus head coach Kasey Keltner helped the Wildcats reach new heights this season.
Keltner led the Wildcats to a 18-5 win total and a 14-2 conference record. That included a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North title for Wildcats.
Since the 2007-08 season, Columbus had never had more than 15 wins, until this latest campaign. The Wildcat bowed out in the Class 2A Region two second round to Danville.
Captain: Lily Coil, senior, Columbus
Columbus senior Lily Coil earns captain honors this season after leading the Wildcats to the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North title.
She helped the Wildcats to a 14-2 conference slate and a 18-5 overall record.
Coil led the Wildcats in scoring, posting 15.4 points per game this season, as well as a team-leading 8.6 points per game. Coil finished the year with 1.9 assists per game, and was a star on defense with 3.8 steals per game and 0.7 blocks per game.
Kamryn Fink, freshman, Highland
One of two freshmen on this year’s All-Union list is Highland’s Kamryn Fink.
The Huskies guard burst on the scene in her first go, notching all-state status this season. Fink was one of three freshmen named to the Class 1A All-State team.
She led the team with 16 points per game, 14.5 rebounds per game, 2.7 assists per game and 1.5 blocks per game, while also finishing second in steals per game, with 3.1.
Callie Huber, senior, Mid-Prairie
Mid-Prairie post player Callie Huber earns All-Union honors after helping the Golden Hawks to a 16-6 overall record.
Huber finished with 11.1 points per game and 9.4 rebounds for the Golden Hawks. Huber shot 50.3% from the field through her senior season.
Brenna Graber, sophomore, WACO
WACO’s Brenna Graber is the lone sophomore on this year’s list.
Graber helped the Warriors to a 15-9 season and a fourth-place finish in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference North.
She finished with team highs in points and assists, 14.4 and 2.4 respectively.
Kynlee Buffington, freshman, Winfield-Mount Union
The second freshman on the All-Union list is Kynlee Buffington of Winfield-Mt. Union.
Buffington averaged a double double in her first varsity season. In 23 games for the Wolves, Buffington averaged 13.6 points and pulled down 12 rebounds a night.
She will be integral for the Wolves’ success next year as well.
Malia Yoder, senior, Hillcrest Academy
Hillcrest Academy’s Malia Yoder did a little bit of everything for the Ravens this season.
She helped the Ravens pick up 11 wins. Along the way, Yoder had her hands all over the game.
The Hillcrest Academy senior averaged 14.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and a team high 3.4 assists.
