COLUMBUS JUNCTION — The Wildcats were able to withstand an Arrows attack Tuesday at Columbus Junction.
The girls soccer match was won by Columbus over the visitors from Wapello, 3-2.
Columbus celebrated Parents Night with the win as sisters scored all three Wildcat goals.
“It was an intense game,” Columbus head coach Alfredo Piedra said. “Wapello came to play hard and did the best they could.”
Wapello’s record is 0-9.
The Arrows took a 2-1 lead by end of the first half. Columbus came back in the second half and flipped it around to get the victory.
Alynna Leos patrolled the net and came up with eight saves for Columbus.
Odalyz Valdez scored two goals in her last home game and younger sister Juvixsa Valdez got one goal in. Juvixsa Valdez is a pair of scores away from setting a season record for goals. She has 15 goals so far this season. Odalyz Valdez has scored nine goals.
Columbus ups its record to 7-3 and plays at Washington Friday.
