Columbus girls fall short
Wildcats’ cold start leads to North Division loss

COLUMBUS JUNCTION — An ice cold first half doomed the Wildcat girls in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division home game on Monday night. Wapello upended Columbus 49-35.
The Wildcats trailed 14-2 after one quarter, 25-8 at halftime and 42-18 after three periods.
Ariana Vergara led the Wildcats with 16 points and six rebounds in the win. Victoria Howell scored six points and collected seven steals, and Kinlee Brown added four points off the bench. Sera Vela led the team with five assists.
It was one of the few SEISC games to be played on Monday night. Columbus fell to 4-6 overall and 3-4 in conference play with the loss.
