Columbus girls lose at Mediapolis Tuesday
The Columbus girls basketball team played at Mediapolis Tuesday, Jan. 31, and returned home with a loss after a final 46-73 score. Mediapolis took an early lead in the first quarter going up 19-12 and kept that lead the rest of the game as Columbus put in six more in the second quarter to Mepo?s 22, putting the score at 18-41 at the half.
After the break, Mepo added 24 more points to Columbus? five in the third ...

The Columbus girls basketball team played at Mediapolis Tuesday, Jan. 31, and returned home with a loss after a final 46-73 score. Mediapolis took an early lead in the first quarter going up 19-12 and kept that lead the rest of the game as Columbus put in six more in the second quarter to Mepo?s 22, putting the score at 18-41 at the half.
After the break, Mepo added 24 more points to Columbus? five in the third quarter while Columbus scored 23 in the fourth. It wasn?t enough, though, as Mediapolis added eight more to get the win.
Bailey Stroud scored 15 points, had three assists and two steals. Shania Boyd had 13 points, seven rebounds and two steals.
Maki Mendenhall had eight points and 11 rebounds. Courtney Zaehringer had five points, Destiny Langley had three points and Violet Anaya scored two.
Columbus is now at 9-9 for the season and next plays Friday, Feb. 3, against Lone Tree starting at 6 p.m.
