Columbus golfers take second at Durant tourney
The Columbus boys? golf team battled the cold, wind and rain at Tuesday?s Wildcat Invitational at the Wahkonsa Country Club in Durant and came away with a second-place finish at the 11-team tournament.

The Columbus boys? golf team battled the cold, wind and rain at Tuesday?s Wildcat Invitational at the Wahkonsa Country Club in Durant and came away with a second-place finish at the 11-team tournament.
Columbus totaled a team score of 345, finishing five strokes behind host Durant. Junior Zac Howell fired a 12-over-par 84 to tie for fourth place individually and lead Columbus. Sophomore Chase Finke shot an 85 to tie for eighth place individually. Sophomores Ethan Leyden and Austin Edwards both carded an 88 to round out the scoring. Sophomore Mitchell Griffin shot a 95, and junior Alex Mincer had a 96.
Mid-Prairie struggled a bit and finished 11
th
with a 396. Junior Trever Owens shot a 90 to lead the Golden Hawks, and sophomore Devon Young added a 92. Senior Tyler Davis carded a 105, and senior David Lindemann had a 109 to round out the scoring. Freshman Paul Hawbaker shot a 113, and junior Gabe Miecnikowski had a 118.
