Amigon, Columbus run past North Cedar football team

COLUMBUS JUNCTION — Defense and a superior ground game will win many a football game and those were the difference in a Class A District 5 win for Columbus Friday.
The Wildcats scored a touchdown in each of the first three quarters and two in the fourth for a 35-16 win over the visiting Knights of North Cedar.
“We were solid all night in all phases of the game,” Columbus head coach Dave Lekwa said. “Our defense did a heck of a job all night. Just a superb performance by everyone for four quarters.”
Kaden Amigon had 237 yards on the ground for the Wildcats and four rushing touchdowns. Andrew Gonzalez rushed six times for 25 yards. The Wildcats attempted a pass once.
Amigon produced a 99-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown as well. Trenton Hoback also recovered a fumble.
North Cedar is 1-6, 1- Columbus is 3-4, 2-2 and plays at Alburnett (3-4) Friday.
