Offensive lineman work in anonymity no matter the level of play, but under the Friday night lights, some high school teams gained wins due to line play.
Wildcats follow line for win
COLUMBUS JUNCTION - Columbus grounded the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons with a 34-28 win. Jeff Hoback went 4-for-7 for 74 yards passing and Will Schwab ran 44 times for 178 yards and three scores. Tucker Bright caught two passes for 52 yards and a touchdown and led the defense with nine tackles.
Under new head coach Dave Lekwa, the Wildcats have scored 60 points in two games this season after scoring 58 in 10 games last year.
'Our offensive line has done a tremendous job thus far, really that's been the key,” Lekwa said. 'The boys have completely bought in to our offensive system. My hats off to the entire roster on that win.”

DONNELLSON - It was a game of highs and lows for both teams that had turnovers lead to points, goal-line stands, an onside kick recovery, injuries, and physical football. What the difference was in all these things was a 37-31 win for Pekin over the Hawks.
'I'd say everyone got their money's worth that came to Central Lee,” Pekin head coach Brent Blakely said.
Statistically Micheal Jones and Mason Juhl had big nights for Pekin. 'Much of the credit goes to our offensive line,” Blakely said. 'I felt they were solid most of the night in controlling the line of scrimmage.”
Cobras hold off Hawks
WELLMAN - Sigourney-Keota bolted out to a 21-0 advantage with the help of a 90-yard kickoff return to open the second half by Brady Duwa, then held on for a 28-21 win over Mid-Prairie.
'We played well in the fourth quarter,” M-P head coach Pete Cavanagh said. 'We had too many penalties and costly errors. Give credit to Sigourney-Keota for playing a great game. I thought Vinnie Bowlin's pass to Keegan Gingerich for a TD gave us a chance to win, but we simply ran out of time.”
Bowlin went 14-for-235 for 238 yards and the TD. Kayden Reinier rumbled for 134 yards rushing on 22 carries. Gingerich had six receptions for 118 yards. Justice Jones had 8.5 tackles.
The Cobras Cade Molyneux was 5-of-5 for 32 yards and a score and ran 17 times for 93 yards. Duwa and Colten Clarahan each had an interception and Cade Streigel recovered a fumble.
Wilton holds off Huskies
RIVERSIDE - Highland fell to the Beavers 36-30 despite Connor Grinsted scoring two TDs, one from 89 yards and Owen Donovan's two TDs one from 65. Lucas Miller had an interception and took a fumble recovery in for TD. Carson Nester helped the Huskies defense with 10 tackles, nine solo. Yahir Jimenez had 5.5 tackles.
Highland did not help itself giving up a punt return for TD and with two bad snaps, one for a TD and the last one was with little over minute left in game.
'We need to work on the little things, depth, and game conditioning,” Highland co-head coach Scott Morel said. 'We showed a lot of grit and toughness. We had players step up and be playmakers.”
