Columbus/W-MU tops Mt. Pleasant

WINFIELD - The Columbus-Winfield-Mt. Union wrestling team pinned Mt. Pleasant in the season-opening dual for both teams on Tuesday night. The Wildcats won 10 matches to run away from the Panthers 55-24.

The Panthers started out hot, getting a pin from Tyler Raub in the first match of the day at 138 lbs. The Wildcats, however, strung together nine wins in a row from 145 lbs. to 106 lbs. Over that time, Cameron Rice (160 lbs.) and Chance Malone (220 lbs.) both picked up pins.

Mt. pleasant won three matches in a row from 113 lbs. to 126 lbs., getting pins out of Corbin Broeker (120 lbs.) and Carson Coleman (126 lbs.) in the process. Columbus/W-MU won the final match by decision to wrap up the 31-point victory.
