Columbus/WMU, Highland compete at Prairie Winter Classic
Wildcats take 18th in girls’ meet, Huskies follow in 22nd

CEDAR RAPIDS — Both Columbus/WMU and Highland girls wrestling were both in action on Saturday at Cedar Rapids Prairie’s Prairie Winter Girls Classic.
In a 27 team field, Columbus/WMU finished 18th overall with 35 total team points. Highland followed four spots back with a 22nd team finish.
Leading the way for Columbus/WMU was Josie Nelson with a fifth-place finish at 140. Nelson notched four wins by fall in the competition.
At 155, Lecet Quiroz placed sixth for 12 team points. Quiroz won three out of five matches in the competition.
Finishing eight for the Wildcats was Jana Isanta at 120. Isanta notched five team points.
Yaleen Miranda (135) scored three points for the Wildcats, but didn’t place in the competition. She notched one fall. Jada Moats (190) also competed, but didn’t place.
For Highland, Peggy Miller and Chloe Sexton both placed seventh at 155 and 190 respectively. Miller carded 11 team points with a trio of pins. Sexton tallied four team points with one pin in five rounds of action, which featured two byes.
Also for the Huskies, Abbie Grout grabbed four points at 100, but did not place. Grout notched one victory by win in three matches. Jenna Bose wrestled at 145, but did not place as well.
