Columbus/WMU wins pair against New London, WACO

COLUMBUS — Columbus/WMU, WACO and New London battled one another on Thursday night in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference triangular.

Winning the night was Columbus/WMU as the Wildcats grabbed a pair of wins, defeating New London 66-15 and WACO 70-12. The Wildcats gave up just five matches on the evening.

Meanwhile, WACO defeated New London in its clash 52-18.

In the matchup between Columbus/WMU and New London, the Wildcats won nine matches by forfeit.

The only head-to-head wins for Columbus/WMU were Bowen Thomson at 132 and Trevor Phillips at 150. Both won by fall.

For New London, Kane Forseen (120) and Michael Raines (165) both grabbed pins. Gavin Menke-Bailey (138) ended up on top after a sudden victory, 10-8, over the Wildcats’ Kohlby Newsom.

Against WACO, Columbus/WMU dropped just two matches. On the contrary, they notched nine wins by fall.

WACO’s two victories came from Louden Huisenga at 190 and Gage Samo at 120. Both were victorious by fall.

The matchup between WACO and New London saw the Tigers give up the majority of their points to forfeits as the Warriors scored off six of them.

Gage Samo and John McLaughlin (132) were the only two head-to-head winners.

New London’s got points from Menke-Bailey, Michael Raines and Killian Kelly (150). The trio each carded pins.
