Columbus wrestles in quad meet

The Columbus wrestling team traveled to West Burlington Thursday, Jan. 12, to take part in a quad meet with Muscatine, West Burlington-Notre Dame and Louisa-Muscatine.

Columbus would lose to Muscatine 46-20, win over their hosts 42-40 and lose to Louisa-Muscatine 57-23.

In the match against Muscatine, Jared Kadel (106) won over Seth Hoffman by fall in 1:32. Chase Wheeler (113) lost by fall in 1:33 to Kuinton Middugh.

Cesar Neri (120) won by a 4-3 decision over Brady Holmes. Armando Quiroz (126) won by a 15-0 technical fall in 4:00 over Carson Harder.

Jose Cerezo (132) lost by a 10-2 major decision to Brian O?Neill. Piper Juanito (138) won by a 4-3 decision over Colton Oldfield.

Felix Solis (145) lost by fall in 2:39 to Gavyn Ashley. JT Cunningham (152) was pinned in 0:36 by Bronson Brown. Morrison Tucker (170) won by a 9-2 decision over Garrett Brunson.

No one from Columbus won by forfeit. Those from Muscatine winning by forfeit were Dalton Sell (220), Nolan Bell (285), Carter Oldfield (160) and Tyler Justus (182).

Facing off first against West Burlington was Wheeler (113) who lost by fall in 1:46 to Riley Walker.

Neri (126) won by fall in 2:19 over Hunter Christy. Juanito (138) pinned Mitchell Trexel in 2:59.

Solis (145) won by fall in 1:37 over Ethan Walker. Cunningham (152) lost by fall in 1:41 to Drew Chiprez.

Noah Freeman (160) lost by a 10-1 major decision to Drake Smith. Tucker (170) won by fall in 3:57 over Tucker Moore.

Winning by forfeit for Columbus were Kadel (106), Quiroz (120) and Cerezo (132).

West Burlington wrestlers winning by forfeit were Jekell Duerre (220), Drake Fox (285), Tyler Hill (182) and Dreyton LaVeine (195).

Facing off first against L-M was Kadel (106) who won by fall in 0:36. Wheeler (113) lost by fall in 0:11 to Cody Calvelage.

Jesus Jimenez (120) lost by fall in 1:57 to Chase Kruse. Quiroz (126) won by a 22-5 technical fall in 4:24 over Gage Conner. Cerezo (132) lost by a 10-4 decision to Max Mashek. Juanito (138) won by fall in 5:47 over Max McCulley.

Robert Loveless (145) lost by fall in 1:22 to Austin Leopard. Cunningham (152) was pinned in 0:47 by Adam Starkweather. Tucker (170) won by fall in 2:17 over Samual Kessel.

No one from Columbus won by forfeit. Winning by forfeit for L-M were Jacob Schutterle (160), Hunter Connor (182), Jared Henkel (195), Gabe Hayes (220) and Max Wetzel (285).
