Columbus wrestling team takes to the mats at Pekin
The Columbus wrestling team faced Van Buren and Pekin Thursday, Dec. 15. Columbus would win over Van Buren 30-19, but would lose to Pekin 27-30.
Jared Kadel (113) would win over Adam Smith by a 9-3 decision. Armando Quiroz (126) won by fall in 1:08 over Quentin Story. Felix Solis (152) won by a 6-4 sudden victory over Brody Caviness.

Jose Cerezo (132) lost by a 3-2 decision to Aidan Franklin. Robert Loveless (138) was pinned in 1:30 by Caleb Stoltz and Noah Freeman (160) lost by a 9-1 major decision to Ethan Diephuis.
Jesus Jimenez (120), Piper Juanito (145) and Morrison Tucker (170) each won by forfeit. Gabe Tedrow (220) from Van Buren won by forfeit.
In the match against Pekin, Quiroz won by fall over Elijah Sieren in 0:58 and Tucker won over Keaton Baayen by a 6-1 decision. Cerezo lost by fall in 3:55 to Zach Hammes.
Piper Juanito lost by a 3-0 decision to Isaiah Wittrock. Felix Solis (145) lost to Hunter Conger by a 9-4 decision and Noah Freeman (152) lost by fall in 1:33 to Drake Harbison.
Kadel (106), Chase Wheeler (113) and Jimenez all won by forfeit. Winning by forfeit from Pekin was Kaden Baker (160) and Connor Reed (182).
