Comet girls rally past Holy Trinity

FORT MADISON — A four-run fourth inning helped the Cardinal softball team slip past Holy Trinity, 5-2, in its second game of the season Tuesday night.
After Cardinal scored one run in the top of the first, Holy Trinity responded with two in the bottom half of the inning. The Comets rallied back two innings later, scoring the last four runs of the ballgame.
Kinsey Hissem had a big game at the plate for Cardinal. She finished the night 2-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. Emma Becker led the team in hits, going 3-for-4.
Caitlyn Reber and Brinlee Ostrander each had two hits for the Comets. Alexia McClure and Ava Ferrell each knocked in a run.
Nicoa McClure threw all seven innings in the circle. She gave up just two runs (one earned) on five hits and one walk while striking out five batters.
