DANVILLE - The Cardinal basketball teams struggled in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division doubleheader at Danville on Tuesday. The Cardinal boys lost 75-54 and the girls fell 42-21.
The boys weren't able to hold off Danville's offense. The Bears led 18-12 after one quarter and 38-21 at halftime. Cardinal played Danville within four points in the second half, but they could never get back in the game after a 20-9 Danville stretch in the second.
Despite the loss, Blaine Bryant had a big game for the Comets, scoring 21 points. Taylor Kensett of Danville matched that total with 21 of his own.
The Cardinal girls started ice cold and trialed Danville 9-0 after the first quarter. The Comets picked it up in the second to cut the lead to 20-16, but they only mustered seven total points in the second half.
