CORNING - The Cardinal football team couldn't replicate their dominant first game offensively on Friday night, falling to 1-1 after a 14-7 loss to Southwest Valley.
The Comets struck first, scoring early in the first quarter on a 70 pass from Maddux Jones to Griffin Greiner, but they wouldn't find the end zone for the rest of the night.
Southwest Valley scored twice, once in the second quarter and once in the fourth. The game-winning touchdown came on a fourth-and-goal from the one-yard line with 7:30 remaining.
Cardinal fell to 1-1 after the loss. The Comets dominated their Week 0 game against Columbus in the opener.
Cardinal will look to get back in the winner's column next week when they hit the road to take on Wayne High School in Corydon.
