Comets win at WACO

WAYLAND - The Cardinal and WACO volleyball teams met up for SEISC South Division battle on Tuesday night and it was the Comets who walked out with the big 'W.” Cardinal outlasted WACO 25-23, 16-25, 27-25, 25-21.
Maddie Cloke had yet anohter big game for Cardinal. She finished the night with 17 kills and 16 digs. Trista Benedict reached double digit kills as well, with 11, and Kiya Chapin had eight.
Maddy Langford led the way with 36 assists on the night. Rachel Lewman had 31 digs, and Lydia Moses had 18 digs.
The Comets went 82-89 serving the ball with seven aces. Moses was 11-14 with a team-leading three aces. Langford went 19-19 with an ace. Benedict, Cloke and Sydney Pickrell each had one ace.
WACO was led by Morgan Graber, who had 19 kills in the loss. Lona Farrier finished the night with 11 kills, and Molly McLaughlin had 10 kills and 18 digs.
Laney Graber finished the game with 43 assists and 19 digs. Aubri Garnsey had 32 digs, and Lindsey Roth had 15 digs.
As a team, WACO went 92-95 serving with six aces. Ellie Miles had 23-23 with three aces. Garnsey went 17-18 with two aces, and Laney went 15-15 with an ace.
Cardinal moved to 14-6 overall and 1-3 in South Division play. They travel to play Central Lee on Thursday, Oc. 3.
WACO fell to 15-8 overall and 1-3 in the South. They'll play at Holy Trinity on Thursday.
