Thursday, June 23, there will be a public meeting at the Fairfield Public Library, 7:30-9:15. Find out what is already being done in Fairfield to help stop and reverse the erosion of our constitutional rights, and to open up direct and honest communications with all our elected officials and law enforcement officers. Don?t just complain about how things are, or criticize others while you wait for somebody else to fix things. Accept that your inaction, to date, is part of the problem ? and become active now.
We The People are having our constitutional rights infringed upon daily, sometimes egregiously. Did you know that twelve states have laws against recording a police officer with your cell phone? In two states, Illinois and Massachusetts, it is a felony. In Illinois, it is actually a Class I Felony, the same as rape, with a 4-15 year prison sentence. Listen to this NPR radio show for full details: onpoint.wbur.org/2011/06/15/videotape-police.
Did you also know that every law officer and elected official has sworn a solemn oath to uphold and defend the US Constitution and our Bill of Rights? Yet some flagrantly ignore their solemn word and oath; but many are very concerned, and diligently seek to honor their oath. One of the several actions going on in Fairfield at present is that we are meeting with officials and law enforcement and finding out where they stand on honoring their oath. I have already contacted over two dozen officials and law enforcement officers, including Mayor Malloy, Sheriff Droz, Police Chief Harvey, and County Attorney Dille. Learn what I have found out after talking with our officials. Some officials will try to attend Thursday?s meeting.
Besides myself, other active Fairfield people who will present their ideas for local action at this meeting include Roland Wells, attorney Ed Noyes, Christy Welty, and Marie Zenack.
