MT. PLEASANT — On Wednesday, Mt. Pleasant senior Jordan Crooks signed her letter of intent to attend and dance at Central College next season.
Crooks, who says she has been dancing since she was three, is a member of the Panther squad, and she says she recently decided to follow her passion into the next level.
“I really didn't make that decision until this year,” Crooks said. “I have always loved to dance. I've danced ever since I was three, so as I was trying to figure my life out, I figured out I wanted to dance.”
Crooks will be joining Fairfield’s Chayse Gilchrist on the squad. Gilchrist signed to Central earlier this year, and the two of them are familiar with each other.
Crooks will be joining a Central team that just won a national championship in Division III Pom this April.
Crooks will be studying Elementary Education when she gets to Pella. She says although it took her a while to decide, she looks forward to potentially pairing teaching and dancing in the future.
“I really didn't know what I wanted to do with my life until a few months ago, honestly. I just kind of threw it all together,” Crooks said. “But I have always loved teaching kids, and I have loved to dance. So I even have an interest in teaching people choreography. If I can teach kids how to dance, I would be very interested in that.”
