D-NL, Mid-Prairie move on in boys soccer tourney

The 2024 Iowa high school boys soccer postseason is underway, and two area teams have already scooped up wins to start the district tournament.
Both Danville-New London and Mid-Prairie won games on Monday. The Bears knocked off Columbus, and the Golden Hawks defeated Sigourney-Keota.
Danville-New London 3, Columbus 1
D-NL scored three goals in the first half, two of which came off the foot of junior Colin Pealer. Carter Buck scored as well, as the Bears moved on to play a Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament rematch at Mediapolis on in Monday night’s Class 1A Substate 6 semifinals.
Mid-Prairie 3, Sigourney-Keota 1
Mid-Prairie moved on in the Class 1A Substate 7 tournament with a first round win over Sigourney-Keota.
The Golden Hawks scored two goals in the first half and tacked one in the second.
Mid-Prairie and Hillcrest Academy will renew its soccer rivalry in Monday’s semifinal. The two teams have played just once since 2013.
Central Lee 3, WACO 1
WACO’s 2024 campaign came to an end, as the Warriors fell by two goals in the first round of the Class 1A Substate 6 tournament.
The Warriors trailed 2-0 at halftime. Colton Leichty put the team on the board in the second half, scoring off an assist from Tristan Luitjens.
WACO ends the season 5-8.
