D-NL perfect at Big Hollow

MEDIAPOLIS - The Danville/New London boys cross-country team is tuning up for a run at a state championship by scoring a perfect 15 team points Thursday in the Mediapolis Invitational at Big Hollow.
Ty Carr of D-NL won in 17 minutes, 27 seconds and his teammates, Alexander Julian, Oliver Sowell, Seth Bailey and Rylan Martin, placed second through fifth in that order.
Pekin won the girls team title with Amanda Gilpin of Central Lee taking the individual win, finishing in 21:31.Lauren Steigleder of Pekin was third. Leah Bontrager of Hillcrest Academy was fourth.
The meet was held at Big Hollow Recreation Area on mostly grassy technical trails. It is not a course for fast times.
