Danville squads sweep Comets in Tuesday action

DANVILLE ? Laci Moore hit five 3s and Lindsay Moore was at her best, but it wasn?t enough as the Cardinal girls found themselves on the wrong end of a double overtime thriller Tuesday.
The Comets went toe-to-toe with Danville through four quarters and an overtime, though the Bears (6-7, 5-5 SEISC south) got hot when it mattered most to escape with a 63-55 win.
Lindsay and Laci Moore scored 22 and 16 points, respectively. Liz Nichols added eight points, Brooke Courtney scored four and Morgan Honomichl had three points. Lindsay Moore rounded out her terrific offensive performance with team highs in rebounds (7), assists (5) and steals (5).
The Comets (3-10, 3-7) return to the court Friday at Holy Trinity.

Boys fall 65-26
DANVILLE ? The top-ranked team in Class 1A, Danville, played like it was supposed to Tuesday, stifling the Comets and taking a 65-26 victory in Danville.
Cardinal (4-8, 3-7 SEISC south) was held to just two points in the first quarter. After giving away nine turnovers in that period, the Comets limited their turnovers to another nine in the final three quarters but never had much of a chance. The undefeated Bears (12-0, 10-0) broke out to a 48-14 halftime lead.
Jonathan Pederson led the Comets with 10 points, followed by Drew Ostrander with six and Neil Urtado with five points and a team-high seven boards.
Dakota Showman, Austin Roe and Cody Carter collected one dime apiece. Charlie Rachford blocked two shots.
Cardinal will continue its road stretch with a contest at Holy Trinity Friday.
