Dear Abby advice adding to moral decline
To the editor:
I am appalled by Dear Abby?s column regularly and rarely read it. However, I did read it in The Fairfield Ledger from Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. Abby?s advice to TAKEN ABACK IN CALIFORNIA was, at best, politically correct. At its worst, the advice adds to the moral decline of America! Abby?s last comment was, ?It?s called REALITY.?

I am appalled by Dear Abby?s column regularly and rarely read it. However, I did read it in The Fairfield Ledger from Friday, Sept. 7, 2012. Abby?s advice to TAKEN ABACK IN CALIFORNIA was, at best, politically correct. At its worst, the advice adds to the moral decline of America! Abby?s last comment was, ?It?s called REALITY.?
Businesses should have the legal right to require an employee dress code. Just because California has given the legal right for people to dress in a style not typical for gender (including makeup), that does not mean that behavior is right at the work place. A business is not a tool for an employee to flaunt their individuality. If someone wants an earned paycheck, they should be on common ground with the employer both morally and ethically or, out of respect, be willing to work knowing and abiding by the differences.
Treating others with respect goes both ways. Employees need to respect their employers too! A job is a privilege bestowed to an employee to aid in the success of the business for which the employee applied to be hired. If the employee wishes to be accepted, (s)he needs to apply at a business which condones a cross-dressing behavior; but, every business should not be required to hire staff who wish to dress contrary to an employer?s moral code.
I do believe that everyone deserves respect, and you will not experience anything but a loving attitude from me towards all people. However, it is evident that there is a minority pushing for legal reform which accepts anything and everything. I am respectful to all people but do not wish to patronize a business which hires cross-gender waiters. If I have already ordered my food when I realize that a business portrays the moral decline of America, I will leave that business and only return if the moral practices of that business change. I will only pay for the food if it is already on my table prior to my departure.
I am accountable to my family and my God to stand for my unalienable right to the freedoms we all have been bestowed as citizens of these United States. Our legal system is wrong to write and approve laws for The People without taking heed to the voice of The People. That is why the United States was formed, so The People would have a voice and a vote.
Contrary to what is currently politically correct, I do not have to ?tolerate? everything. That, Dear Abby, is called REALITY!
