SIGOURNEY — Consistency is always important.
The Sigourney-Keota football team has modeled that on both sides of the ball.
— -The defense has allowed fewer points each week and recorded a shutout in Friday’s homecoming win.
— -The offense has scored six touchdowns in each of the last three weeks of the season.
— -The Cobras dismantled Pleasantville Friday 42-0 after last week’s 42-7 win at Centerville and the previous 42-12 win when Mid-Prairie visited. The opener was a 23-21 win.
Pleasantville was the first Class 1A District 6 opponent to see the stingy Cobra defense led by Karson Weber’s 4.5 tackles and Cole Clarahan’s 3.5 tackles, including one of the team’s six tackles for loss. The Trojans totaled a meager 63 yards, 49 rushing and 14 passing. Most of either team’s yards were gained in the first half which ended 35-0.
The 338 yards of Cobra offense gave the Trojans a chance to see the class leader in rushing yards, Cade Molyneux, slither through their defense 13 times for 207 yards and three touchdowns, including a 74-yard jaunt. Colten Clarahan had three carries for 64 yards and a touchdown. He also tossed a scoring pass of 29 yards to Evan Dawson.
The Cobras travel to Pella Christian for Friday’s district game between ranked teams.
