Defense lifts Mid-Prairie to fourth straight win

Although Tipton dominated Friday?s game against Mid-Prairie, the Golden Hawk defense made stops when it needed to in order to pick up the 14-7 road win.
Mid-Prairie (4-1) scored first when junior tailback Eesaa Baylor ran into the end zone from 1 yard out late in the first quarter. The Tigers answered with a 57-yard scoring drive, capped by a 1-yard touchdown run by junior fullback Chandler Harden. But Mid-Prairie senior Ryan Hoffman returned the ensuing kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown to put the Golden Hawks in front 14-7 at the half.
Mid-Prairie?s defense stopped the Tigers four times on fourth down in the final quarter, including three times inside the Golden Hawk 30-yard line.
Tipton finished a 277-185 advantage in total yards, but the Tigers (4-1) were handed their first loss of the season while Mid-Prairie won its fourth game in a row.
Baylor finished with 106 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries. Harden had 140 yards and a score on 25 carries for the Tigers.
