Demon archers set season marks
A big day saw Lincoln Elementary on top once again at a home archery tournament on Saturday.

A big day saw Lincoln Elementary on top once again at a home archery tournament on Saturday.
In its best performance so far this season, the No. 3 state ranked Lincoln Elementary archery team scored 2,948 points as a team, winning the four-team competition.
Curtis Stender had a 272 to lead the Lincoln team, finishing in second for elementary boys, while Allison Rees notched a 264 to finish second among elementary girls.
Hayden Janecek had a 253 to finish in third place among elementary girls, while Blake Evans had a 252 to take seventh among elementary girls and Levi Applegate had a 249 to take eighth.
Both Stender and Rees are ranked in the Top 5 among elementary individuals.
Washington Middle School, the No. 15 ranked middle school archery team in Iowa, finished in fourth at the tournament.
Lane Frana led the team with 276 points to take sixth among the middle school boys, while Sammi Mellinger had a 268, taking ninth among middle school girls.
Zoe Kane scored a 260 to take 17th among middle school girls, while Cooper Reed had a 260 to finish in 26th among middle school boys.
Mellinger is among the top 25 for middle school girls in the state of Iowa.
The No. 13 ranked Washington high school archery team also set a record at the home tournament, scoring its most points ever, notching a 3,301 over the weekend, winning the eight-team meet.
Jade Wells (who is ranked in the top 15 among high school girls) led the charge with a 287 to win the high school girls? competition.
Mitchell Driscoll and Griffin Wood each recorded a 280 at the tournament, finishing sixth and seventh respectively among high school boys, while Kylee Porter had a 278 to finish in seventh among high school girls.
All three Washington archery teams will be competing at state on March 5, with the competition held at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.
