Demon basketball teams swept by Grinnell

WASHINGTON — The Washington basketball teams took on Grinnell in non-conference action on Thursday night. The Demon girls fell in a nail-biter, dropping the contest 34-31. The boys fell 61-43.
Washington trailed 20-14 at halftime of the girls’ game. Grinnell’s lead shrank to 26-23 after three, and the Demons had a chance to tie the game at the buzzer, but an Adalyn Long deep ball fell short.
Long had just two points at halftime but put together an incredible final two quarters to finnish with 17. Kendall Hinrichsen scored seven points. Oakl Sobaski had four, and Regan Miller had three.
The Demon boys were down 13-6 after one quarter, 29-20 at halftime or 47-36 after three quarters.
Logan McDole led the Demons with 11 points. Drew Conrad and Nic Stone each had 10. Rajan Roth scored eight, and both Oliver Hobsheidt and Luke Schiebel finished with two.
