Demon boys beat Burlington, girls lose
Washington makes big move in conference race

WASHINGTON — The Washington boys soccer team scored a huge win in the Southeast Conference race on Monday, knocking off Burlington 4-2 at Washington Wellness Park.
The Demons scored two goals in the first half to take a 2-0 lead before the break. Brayan Arreola scored a header off a pass from Isaac Gentry in the ninth minute, and Ben Kronlage took an assist from Edwin Cortes to score in the 23rd minute.
Burlington came back to tie the game in the second half, but the Demons came right back. Arreola scored his second goal off an assist from Bill De La Rosa in the 58th minute, and Lucas Lindsey scored off a pass from Angel Mata in the 72nd.
In Burlington, the Demon girls fell 4-0. Giselle Marcelino had two shots, one going on goal, but neither found the back of the net.
The Washington boys are now 5-2 overall and 3-1 in conference play. The Demon girls are 2-6 overall and 1-4 in the league.
