Both the Washington High School soccer teams have two-game winning streaks after securing victories Saturday morning over the visitors from Mediapolis.
The Demon girls have a 2-1 record after a 6-2 win over the Bulldogs. The girls have scored six goals in consecutive games after losing 3-0 to Iowa City Liberty in the season opener.
At Keokuk Thursday, Trina Griffin netted four goals, Halle Leyden one and Greta Rothe one.
The girls haven't won two games in a season since 2015 when they had a 3-12 record.
In 2014, the girls started 2-0 but lost the next eight matches and finished 4-15.
The girls host West Liberty today. The Comets have played just once, a 5-0 loss to Solon last Monday.
The Demon boys have evened their record at 2-2 after a 1-0 win over the Bulldogs. It was the second consecutive 1-0 win after downing Keokuk Thursday in a Southeast Conference match.
Caleb Suchan scored the only goal of the match off of an assist from Pascual Mendoza's throw-in.
The boys continue Southeast Conference play with a match Thursday at Fairfield. The Trojans have a 3-2 record with 14 goals scored and nine goals allowed.
West Liberty 3, Mid-Prairie 0
In a boys River Valley Conference match at West Liberty (2-1) Thursday, the Golden Hawks (1-1) were shut out. MP plays at Iowa City Regina Tuesday. Keaton Graber made four saves for MP.
