Washington ends SEC regular season unbeaten

WASHINGTON — The Washington boys golf team couldn’t be denied in the 2025 Southeast Conference regular season, despite a tough challenge from a few rivals in the final league meet before the conference tournament.
On Monday, the Demons returned to Washington Golf and Country Club to try and go six-for-six against SEC competition. It wasn’t easy, but Washington’s final stroke total of 161 helped the Demons win by eight shots.
Fairfield finished right on Washington’s heels, shooting a 169. Mt. Pleasant and Fort Madison both ended at 176, and Keokuk shot 193, for fifth.
The Demons had two of the Top-2 golfers, as Drew Conrad and Carson Brown shot 35 and 38 respectively to win medalist and runner-up honors.
Cole Vetter tied for 10th with a 43. Conner Leyden shot a 45. Kaleb Orr finished at 46, and Ethan Peebler shot a 48.
Fairfield’s Xavier Kessel tied for third place, shooting a 39. Luke Thornton finished tied for fifth at 41. Andrew Myers tied for eighth, at 42.
The final scorer for the Fairfield boys was Archer Kreuter, who shot a 47. Dain Burkhart finished out at 48, and Voss Richardson shot a 48 as well.
Mt. Pleasant’s top scorer was Alek Barton, who finished tied for third overall, with a 39. Sam Frary and J.C. Sitar each shot 45. Merrick Lamm finished at 47. Brody Engle shot a 52, and Logan Calhoun finished at 55.
