Alderton edges Rees at the line for individual title; Dahl 2nd in girls’ race

WASHINGTON — Area teams went toe-to-toe at Washington Golf and Country Club on Tuesday for the Demons’ annual home cross-country meet. WACO, Mt. Pleasant and Fairfield were among the schools in town.
The Washington boys kept the team title at home. The Demons put all five scorers in the Top-5, including a one-two finish by Tyler Alderton and Andrew Rees.
Alderton edged Rees at the line, finishing in 16 minutes, 43.02 seconds. Rees finished in 16:43.64.
Sawyer Tschantz finished fourth place, right behind WACO’s Jude Dykstra. Ethan Hotchkiss was eighth, and Parker Tschantz crossed in ninth.
Fairfield finished fourth in the boys’ standings, with Aaden Regur leading the way. Regur finished 18th. Solomon Clauson was 21st, and Gabe Tejada narrowly missed on a Top-25 spot, taking 26th.
Mt. Pleasant took sixth place, led by Locken Henderson’s seventh-place finish. Silas Hulett was 16th.
In the girls’ race, Washington’s Iris Dahl narrowly missed the 20 minute mark, finishing in 20:40.31 for second place. Marion’s Addison Dabroski finished first, in 19:45.44.
Washington had two runners in the Top-10. Lauren Horak took ninth. Kendall Hinrichsen finished 12th. Alyvia Anderson took 17th, and Angeline Anderson was 19th.
The Mt. Pleasant girls scored 178 points to finish fifth, two points ahead of Fairfield. The Panthers were led by Quintrie Lee, who took 10th, just ahead of WACO’s Josie Dykstra, who finished 11th.
Fairfield’s Alex Jo Steward finished 16th place. Caroline Van Pelt was just outside of the Top-25, with a 26th-place finish.
