Demon eighth-grade football team wins two games
The Washington eighth-grade football team opened its season by winning both the A and B games against Fort Madison at Case Field on Sept. 11.

The Washington eighth-grade football team opened its season by winning both the A and B games against Fort Madison at Case Field on Sept. 11.
The Demon A team won 18-6. Washington opened the scoring when Trey Van Weelden scored on a run around the right side, and the Demons led 6-0 at the half. Dakota Kron scored on runs of 30 yards and 3 yards in the second half as Washington pushed its lead to 18-0. The Bloodhounds scored their lone touchdown with one minute left in the game.
In the B game, Matthew Wheeler scored on a sweep play, and the Demon defense was able to hold the Bloodhounds scoreless as Washington won 6-0.
?I thought our offensive and defensive lines set the tone for both games. In order for us to be able to move the ball, we need those guys to perform,? Washington coach Brent Van Weelden said.
The Washington eighth-grade football team plays at Ottumwa today at 4:30 p.m. Then the Demons will host Aldo Leopold at Case Field at 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 25.
