FORT MADISON — The Washington girls soccer team had won four straight games heading into their matchup with Fort Madison on Monday night.
Unfortunately for the Demons, that streak was ended with a 1-0 loss that needed penalty kicks to decide a winner.
Washington was edged in the penalty shootout 3-2.
The loss marks the fourth straight game that the Demons and Bloodhounds have been separated by one score or needed penalty kicks to crown a winner, dating back to 2021.
Neither team scored through two half's of action and both followed up without a goal in two extra periods as well, thus forcing the penalty shootout.
Ale Medley had an efficient day in goal for Washington, finishing with 15 saves.
With the loss, Washington drops to 4-1 on the season and will head to Fairfield on Thursday to battle the Trojans (0-2).
