A 22-point outburst from senior Alex Rath powered the Mid-Prairie girls? basketball team to a victory on Tuesday night.
The offensive explosion proved to be the difference against Washington, as the Golden Hawks earned a 53-30 road victory over the Demons.
Mid-Prairie improved to 13-8 with the win, while Washington fell to 9-10, as both teams eye the end of the regular season.
For the Golden Hawks, who wrapped up the regular season with the victory, sophomore Addison Rath also pitched in 10 points and a team-high four assists, while junior Ali Butters had nine points and three assists in the win.
The Demons were led by senior Brynna DeLong, who recorded 10 points and two assists in the loss, while Sarah Nacos notched seven points and three rebounds.
Washington picked up an early two-point lead in the first quarter of the game, but that was quickly pushed away by Mid-Prairie, who extended their lead to as many as 15 throughout the second and third quarters. A late run in the fourth pushed Mid-Prairie to the victory.
Washington will wrap up its regular season on Friday night at Mt. Pleasant, while Mid-Prairie will prepare for its postseason opener at home against Albia on Saturday night.
