Demon girls prevail at home opener
Washington ousts Fairfield and Mt. Pleasant to win first meet

WASHINGTON — On Monday afternoon, the Washington girls golf team showed that they’re still at the top.
The Demons picked up a dominating victory, clearing second place Keokuk by 38 strokes with an overall score of 197.
Fairfield finished third, shooting 224. Due to only have two golfers, Mt. Pleasant couldn’t post a team score. Keokuk took second with an overall score of 221 and Burlington finished fourth with a 235.
Washington’s Makenna Conrad was the highest placer for the Union area teams. Conrad finished second, shooting a 43. Teammate Kaylin Long ended up in third with a 46. Alecia Goff shot a 50. Maci Williams scored 58. Mallary Johnson and Reagan Stouder both shot 61.
Viola Welsh was Fairfield highest placer, finishing fifth with a 50. Macy Rayburn shot a 57. Lucy Kuehl tallied 58. Myah Twohill ended with a 59. Maggie Rayburn scored 65. Jolie Crile finished with 68.
For Mt. Pleasant, Sammi Wibben finished in fourth after shooting a 49. Kylie Walderbach finished with a 70 for the Panthers.
All three teams will be back at it on Thursday at Fairfield.
