BURLINGTON — The Washington girls basketball team has now won back-to-back games for the first time this season, and it was in dominating fashion.
Washington had arguably its best defensive effort all season on Friday, holding Burlington to under five points in all four quarters and under 10 for the game, coming away with a 49-9 win.
The Demons set the tone early. The Grayhounds were held scoreless as Washington grabbed an early 13-0 lead after one. The offensive and defensive onslaught continued into the second. Washington went on to have its best scoring quarter in the second, dropping 21 points on Burlington, while holding them to just four points. At the half, Washington held a 34-4 lead.
In the second half, the Demons slowed down on the offensive end, but it was more of the same defensively. Washington scored just 15 points in the second half, but held Burlington to only five.
Washington improves to 2-7 in Southeast Conference play and 3-13 overall with the win.
