Demon girls win home track meet
Washington gets 5 wins; Mt. Pleasant takes 3rd

Washington — The Washington and Mt. Pleasant girls track meets battled at Case Field on Thursday, along with seven other teams during the Demons’ home girls’ relays.
The Demons scored an even 100 points to win the meet by 16 points. The Panthers weren’t far behind, scoring 81 points to trail second-place Tipton by 84.
Washington won five events on the day, all coming on the track. Three of those victories came in individual events.
Leighton Messinger topped the field in the 100-meter hurdles. She crossed the tape in 16.89 seconds for her lone solo win of the day.
Kendall Hinrichsen grabbed another victory for the Demons. She won the 400-meter hurdles in 1:13.12.
Iris Dahl won one of the two distance events. She took first in the 1500-meter run in 5:10.76.
Mt. Pleasant had two winners on the day. Bailey Jalas won the long jump competition, leaping 15 feet, 9 inches, and Alex Scott took first in the 100-meter dash, finishing in 12.75 seconds.
The Panthers also had two second-place finishes on the day. Savannah Slobodnik took second in the discus throw, hurling it 114 feet, 4 inches. The 4X100 team of White, Alex Scott, Jalas and Andi Scott won in 51.22 seconds.
