Demon golf edges Mt. Pleasant
Washington boys get 4th-straight conference win

MT. PLEASANT — The Mt. Pleasant boys golf team continues to breathe down Washington's necks in Southeast Conference play, but the Demons continue to hold off the Panthers.
On Thursday at Mt. Pleasant Golf and Country Club, Washington did it again. The Demons bested the Panthers by shooting 160, beating Mt. Pleasant's 166 by six strokes.
The Demons and Panthers were the Top-2 teams, with Fort Madison finishing third, shooting 172. Fairfield was just eight strokes back of Fort Madison, with a 180, and Keokuk brought up the rear, at 195.
Washington's big day got a big boost from Drew Conrad's individual medalist-winning 35. Conrad won the individual medal by a full three strokes.
Carson Brown shot a 39 for the Demons. Cole Vetter, Conner Leyden and Kaleb Orr all shot 43, and Ethan Peebler finished out at 49.
Mt. Pleasant's Merrick Lamm had a nice night, shooting 39 to lead the Panthers. Logan Calhoun finished at 41. Brody Engle shot a 42. J.C. Sitar shot 44. Alek Barton finished at 45, and Sam Frary ended at 53.
Fairfield's top scorers on the day were Drew Myers and Luke Thornton, both of which shot 43. Archer Kreuter finished at 45. Xavier Kessel and Brice Boatright shot 49 each and Dain Burkhart ended at 56.
So far in the SEC regular season, Washington has won all four meets, while Mt. Pleasant has finished second in three of them.
