WILLIAMSBURG — Seven area golfers were on the course at Stone Creek Golf Club in Williamsburg on Monday, all chasing a spot in next week’s Class 3A boys golf tournament.
Washington, which won the sectional in Mt. Pleasant less than one week before, continued to dominate the spring, shooting a 295 to win the meet by 19 strokes.
The Demons were one of two teams to make it to the Class 3A state meet from the Williamsburg regional. Pella shot 314 to join Washington.
It was yet another huge day for the top two Demons in the lineup. Rajan Roth and Roman Roth each shot 68 to win medalist and runner-up honors respectively. Nobody was closer than four strokes way from the Roth brothers at the top.
Teague mayer finished tied for seventh place, shooting 78. Drew Conrad finished at 81 to round out the Demon scorers.
Carson Brown shot an 83 for the Demons. Luke Beeblossom was the sixth Washington golfer on the list, shooting 87.
Mt. Pleasant’s Reece Coffman nearly made it as an individual. After moving on from the sectional individually last week, Coffman shot 77 to finish sixth overall individually.
Coffman’s 77 made him the third individual player outside of the team qualifiers. Only the Top-2 move on to state. Williamsburg’s Bryce Yearian and Oskaloosa’s Johnathon Terpstra each shot 72.
The Demons will be at Veenker Memorial Golf Course in Ames on Monday and Tuesday.
