Demon golf wins tight opening meet

It came down to a tiebreaker on Friday afternoon, but the result left the Washington boys? golf team on top.
After the Mt. Pleasant and Washington golf teams played nine holes at the Washington Golf and Country Club, the teams were tied with each team carding a combined 169 in the varsity competition.
The teams used the fifth score to break the tie, and with freshman Dalton Myers? 45, Washington came away with the win in the first meet of the season.
The Demons were led by sophomore Tanner Coleman who carded a 40 at the meet, good for second place overall, followed by junior Derek Anding who notched a 41.
Senior Blake Weidman and sophomore Mason Rich each put in rounds of 44 for nine holes, followed by Myers? 45 and sophomore Noah Enfield?s 50 to round out the varsity scores.
In the junior varsity results, senior Grant Marek and freshman Jacob Van Osdol each put together rounds of 46, while Austin Hazelett, Aaron Vittetoe and Jack Redlinger carded rounds of 47 in the meet.
The Washington boys? golf team will play at Columbus on Tuesday afternoon against Mid-Prairie and Columbus.
